Alliance Apartments
Alliance Apartments provides quality affordable housing for 124 formerly homeless adults in a totally sober community. Collaborating with Alliance Housing, a non-profit agency for homeless adults, and RS Eden, a substance abuse treatment agency, Aeon transformed a vacant and boarded nursing home into a community asset. Located in the Elliot Park neighborhood, the attractive brick structure beautifully complements other buildings in the neighborhood.
Each of the 124 units includes a kitchenette and complete bath. The first floor contains a bright and welcoming reception area, as well as laundry facilities and a small kitchen. A large community room, a library and a computer room are available to residents.
The Alliance Apartments offers on-site support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous and the Alliance Women's and Men's groups. Case Managers from RS Eden provide support services, self-sufficiency programs, job referral and other services to foster physical, mental and spiritual growth. Residents who are not employed full-time or able to be employed must actively seek work or volunteer in the community 20-25 hours a week. Sobriety is also strictly enforced since drug and alcohol abuse perpetuates homelessness.
The Veterans Administration contributed funding to this development, and a number of apartments are reserved for Veterans. Additionally, the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans partners with the Alliance apartments for support services specific to Veterans.
